Tanzanian Local Food4<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Today I’m going to tell you about Tanzanian local food as the series. Today I’m going to tell you about a fish meal. Compared to a fish lover country of Japan, how about Tanzanian people…? Do they have a wide range of fish meals?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Generally at the local restaurant they serve freshwater fish or lake fish such as tilapia and Nile Perch. With the fish they serve stewed beans, vegetables, and as a choice of staple food of rice or chips\/ French fries. For staple food, you could also choose Ugali<\/em><\/strong> made from maze flour. Now I’m telling you how they cook. Basically they have two options: Fried fish or Fish Makange, fried fish with tomato based sauce with onion, carrot, paprika and some other vegetables. The taste of Tilapia itself is simple and similar to mackerel fish, which is quiet popular in Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because we are engaged in beekeeping, we usually visit inlands of Tanzania and hardly bump into salt water fish. Honestly I haven’t seen any kinds of sea food at the inland local restaurants. Tanzanian soup is tasty so much, made from beef or chicken broth, but occasionally I miss Japanese broth made from fish or seaweed. It is time that I rearise that I am an islander, even though my home town is located inland and I tend to be excited to see huge clear sea, which is thought as one of inlander character in Japan. When I visited local markets and found tiny fish, which looks quiet familiar to Japanese people, see below, I was excited wondering if I could cook some Japanese food…?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
