案件化調査結果 2-1

案件化調査も大詰めの今日。今日は、前回に引き続き案件化調査で得た調査結果の一部を紹介します。

今回の調査では、養蜂を行うための巣箱を如何に入手するかも調査項目のひとつでした。養蜂を行うためには欠かせない巣箱。タンザニアの養蜂巣箱については、以前にもお伝えした通り、日本など諸外国で使われているものに比べ非常に大きいものの、扱いにくく収穫量が増やせないこと、はちみつの品質を向上させられないことなどの課題があります。（タンザニアの巣箱についてはこちら）その為、私たちが理想とする養蜂を行うためには、私たちが求める巣箱の入手が欠かせません。宮崎県にある製材から木材の流通を担う株式会社川上木材さん、有限会社サンケイさんらのチームが同じくJICAの中小企業・SDGsビジネス支援事業の基礎調査(対象国：タンザニア)に採択されており、タンザニアにて私たちが望む巣箱を製造するために私たちの調査にご協力いただいています。

現地で一般に流通している木材は加工度が低く、私たちが望む巣箱を製造できません。タンザニアの木材は、すぐに曲がってしまう可能性がある為、巣箱がガタガタになり２段以上に積み上げることが難しい状況。また、木材に割れが生じたり、腐ってしまったり、耐用年数が短く結果的にはちみつの製造コストを高めてしまいます。

川上木材さんらとの調査により、現地でも日本と同様の品質の木材を入手できることがわかりました。そして、その木材を使用して巣箱を作っても、価格メリットのある巣箱を製造できることもわかりました。今後は、現地にて巣箱を製造・流通できる体制を整える予定です。巣箱がなければ養蜂はできません。私たちの巣箱でなければ、美味しい蜂蜜を簡単且つ大量に収穫し、そしてスピーディーに規模を広げていくことは困難です。私たちの目標は、美味しいはちみつをお手頃価格で日本をはじめとする国々の消費者の方々に届けることです。その日が来るのは、まだ少し先になりそうですが、去年よりは確実に近づいていると実感しています。その日が来ることを皆さんにも一緒に楽しみに待ってもらえたら嬉しいです。

ということで、クイズの答えは、”B. 曲がらない木を使っているため”でした！川上木材さんらによると、どんなに真っ直ぐに切っても、木は乾燥させると徐々に切られる前の形に戻ろうと曲がっていってしまうのだそうです。次回もまた案件化調査結果よりお話ししたいと思います。お楽しみに〜

Result from SDGs Business Model Formulation Survey 2-1

The end of survey is around the corner. Today I am going to tell you about a part of results we have already gotten.

It is one of the purposes to see how to produce beehives in Tanzania which we use for our beekeeping available. Needless to say, beehives are necessary for beekeeping. Beehive in Tanzania is, as mentioned before, much larger than hives used in other countries including Japan, but it is difficult to do beekeeping economically with them. In other word, it is unlikely to improve the amount of harvest and quality of honey with them. (Click here to see Tanzanian beehive) In short, it is necessary to have our ideal beehives available to do our ideal beekeeping in Tanzania. A group of companies in Miyazaki Pref., who are engaged in wood industries, from producing to distributing timber, Kawakami Mokuzai Co., Ltd and Sankei LLC., has also a business project in Tanzania supported by JICA. We have agreed to collaborate each other.

The prevailing timber in Tanzania is not so well produced that we are unlikely to produce our ideal beehives. It is highly possible that Tanzanian timber turns bent and difficult to pile boxes. Moreover, any crack or rot possibly happens and brings shorter durability of the hive. As a result the cost of producing honey is inevitable to be raised.

We have got the fact that is timber as good quality as in Japan is available in Tanzania through survey with the group. Furthermore, we have clarified feasibility in the cost. It is possible to produce reasonable hives even with those good timber in quality. We are to build up a site for production of beehives in the next step because no beehive, no beekeeping. It is highly unlikely that we harvest tasty honey easily and massively, and spread our beekeeping speedily without our beehives. What we aim at is to carry tasty honey at the reasonable price to consumers in countries including Japan. It seems there is still a little bit time of the day coming. Yet, we are sure we are approaching, compared to last year. I hope you, too, to look forward to the day to come!

So the answer to the question is “B. They use trees which never turn into bent.” According to the group of wood industries, no matter how straightly timber is cut, as getting dried, each piece gets bent as if it remembered the time of planted.
